Big Magic - Elizabeth Gilbert
Big Magic, by Elizabeth Gilbert, is an inspiring and empowering book about creativity. Gilbert, a biographer and novelist from Connecticut, encourages readers to embrace their creative side and be open to new ideas. In the book, Gilbert discusses the idea that ideas are almost like living entities with their own purpose, seeking someone to bring them to life.
One of the most memorable moments in the book is when Gilbert's boyfriend is denied entry to the US and she moves out of the country with a book idea she had been working on. When she returns two years later and tries to continue the work on the book, she realizes the idea is gone. Gilbert's friend then writes a book with a strikingly similar story, leading Gilbert to consider the moment the idea moved on and "ran off" with her friend.
The book ends with words of encouragement for readers to pursue their own creativity.
By far the favorite book of my adult life. Happy reading or Listening ~
